Mewslade Bay Day Course
This course will focus on the varied rock formations of Mewslade Bay, Gower. Mewslade is a tidal bay, dissapearing at high tide for the sea to reshape the rocks and sand. Mewslade is a great bay to try and make detail images of rocks, shoreline creatures and rugged cliffs. There are photographic options on the beach or from the headland of Great Tor up on the top of the cliffs.
Flora and Fauna
Birds - Cormorant, Kestrel, Robin, Blackbird, Carrion Crow
Mammals - sheep, dairy cows
Plants - Bluebells, wild garlic, Blackberry, hawthorne, fungi
Difficulty level
- Easy to Moderate - this trip is suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. It involves walks over predominately flat ground with a few moderate to gentle ascents/descents to the main area for photography. Access to the beach is via a narrow rocky fissure in the cliff with a descent of about 8 foot to the level beach. A bit of gentle scrambling will be required but the drop is in stages. All major paths are grass or mud tracks with some of the paths in places muddy, covered in stones or bare earth.

The course is limited to a maximum of six participants. This ensures maximum benefits for all participants taking part. As there are no options for purchasing food it is recommmended that you bring a packed lunch with you. 2 Places remaining

Where to Meet
- We will meet in the car park close to the bay in Pitton at 9.30am. The car park is sign posted from the B4247 (south Gower road) and operates on a £2.50 honesty box payment
