Skomer Island, Pembrokeshire

Skomer Island is owned and run by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales. It is one of the true wildlife spectacles in the UK and houses some of the most significant sea bird populations in the southern Britain and the UK. We take the Dale Princess from Martins Haven to the Island, where we can see Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills, Little owls and possibly Short-Eared Owls as well as other birds.

The weather and sea conditions will dictate the ability to land on the island. This is totally out of our control, so there is the possibility that even though the weather conditions seem okay we will not beable to land on the island. More severe weather conditions, obviously will stop sailings. As the sailing tickets are bought on the day, there is no warning the day before if the sailings are to be cancelled.

If we are unable to visit the island we can spend sometime walking around the headland of Deer Park where it is possible to photograph Cough, Wheatear and Stonechat quite easily. We can also relocate to Marloes Bay and photograph the coastline around the bay.

There are limited access to places to buy food, so it is advised to bring a packed lunch with you.
