Cloud patterns at sunset on Cefn Bryn, Gower Peninsula

In a previous post I mentioned my enjoyment of making photographs of skies and the various cloud patterns, colours etc. that can be seen. There are a never ending array of options with no day the same, providing a constant source of subjects and photographic options. The above photograph was taken just after the wider view I posted before and is a detail of the clouds enhanced by the setting sun. The colours and patterns were amazing and I took quite a few variations in vertical and horizontal orientations plus varying the zoom setting on the lens to get wider and tighter views.

The overall theme of the last few Cefn Bryn posts has been about working your subject. What this means it getting different views and angles of your subject, in my case Cefn Bryn, that show details, overall views and have a coherent thread running through them. I have also shown that you must be prepared to adapt to the light and as a result?your main subject focus may have to switch?from something that you planned to something else. My original focus was Arthur’s Stone on Cefn Bryn. This?is an ancient burial mound found on top of it and is shown in the photograph below. As you can see from the photograph it wasn’t the most interesting of?light on the burial stone itself, but as you can see from my posts other images were available. My Arthur’s Stone photograph isn’t that bad, and ok for a postcard, but it wasn’t the type or style of photograph I had envisaged making.
