Southwark Cathedral

I’m playing catch up at the moment and in true New Year fashion I’m also reviewing some images from last year and setting some goals for 2010.

Just before Christmas I spent a few days in London visiting some of my usual haunts from my time living in London. One of my favourite areas is that around Southwark Cathedral, where you can find Borough Market, a replica of the Golden Hind and other interesting places. I remember Borough Market when it was only about 12 stalls, it is now over 100! For the foodies out there it is one of the best places in London and also provides great photographic opportunities.

Further along the Thames walk is Tate Modern, where I always stop to try and make some images of the trees at the front of the building. I am still trying to make a really pleasing image that I rave about, but the colours in the following images caught my eye.

Trees at Tate Modern

Trees are always difficult to photograph, especially when they are in groups as there is always some form of chaotic pattern to the branches. Sometimes when trees are isolated it allows more graphic images to be made, but just a straight shot can be plain in appearance. I find myself making more images now that show sections of the view in front of me, whether it is an item or a landscape.
