I have been catching up on admin recently and haven’t been out taking many pictures. The image above was taken on a dull grey day at Caswell so lends itself to black and white photography. I’m not a great fan of the very blurred water look which comes with slower shutter speeds, so I compromised here by increasing the ISO and widening the aperture. When the water is too blurred, detail is lost and eventually you loose a sense of what is actually being photographed.
Another reason for my lack of photographs recently is my foray into video. With the technology of video and photography combining in the latest camera releases, I thought it was time to start incorporating this into my work. Like all new things there is a steep learning curve to climb and new areas to develop. I can now officially declare myself as the worlds worst sound recordist, but I hope to develop over time with practice and training. As a result of my new direction the credit card has taken a bit of a battering, but now I have a stack of new toys to keep me entertained. I hope to post some early attempts soon, so keep posted and be gentle with me!
